Drying kit RCD trip
RCD tripping with drying equipment
What to check when dehumidifiers, air movers or temporary heaters keep tripping an RCD.
Safety boundary: this guide is for early planning only. It does not inspect hidden wiring, sign off an installation or replace a competent electrician.
It may not be just overload
RCD trips can point to leakage current, moisture, damaged leads or equipment faults, not just too many amps. Do not bypass protection to keep a drying job running.
Still do the load check
A load check will not diagnose an RCD fault, but it can show whether the planned equipment mix is also too heavy for the supply.
Escalate when needed
If drying equipment repeatedly trips protection, stop the setup and involve a competent person, especially in damp or leak-related work.
Equipment next step: if the load plan is realistic, compare dehumidifiers and drying kit and keep the calculation trail with your site notes.
