AC nameplate input power

Portable AC: BTU output vs electrical input

Why a portable AC BTU rating is not the number to use in an electrical load check.

Safety boundary: this guide is for early planning only. It does not inspect hidden wiring, sign off an installation or replace a competent electrician.

BTU is cooling output

BTU/h tells you cooling capacity. For a plug or circuit load check you need electrical input, usually printed as watts, kW or amps on the rating label.

Include the room load

Server rooms, offices and workshops may already have IT, lighting and chargers running. The AC is added on top, not into an empty circuit.

Use the label reader if needed

If the label is hard to read, use the label-reader assist, then confirm the extracted values manually before entering them in the load check.

Equipment next step: if the load plan is realistic, compare portable air conditioners and keep the calculation trail with your site notes.

Run the load check
